Audit Protocols and Training Documents

Standard and Instruction Documents

The CFS audit protocol documents below are the Standard and Instruction documents which the 3rd party auditors hired by EICC and GeSI use to guide the audit and identify potential non-compliances. These documents are written for the auditors and are not necessarily a training document for smelters.

Harmonized Audit Protocols:

The CFS Program has harmonized the audit standard and instruction documents for Tin, Tantalum, and Tungsten (3Ts) into a single process document and a single protocol document. Feedback on a draft version was solicited from a wide range of stakeholders. Feedback from those stakeholders and responses from the Extractives WG CFS team can be found here.

The 3Ts documents posted became active on February 28, 2013.  The gold document became active in 2012.

Legacy 3Ts Audit Protocols:

The protocol documents below were in use until February 28, 2013.

  • Tantalum Standard and Instruction Document [English]
  • Tin Standard and Instruction Document [English]
  • Tungsten Standard and Instruction Document [English] [Mandarin]

Training Material

The CFS Program is providing training materials to provide smelters and refiners more information on the audit process before they start the Program.
